Face Lifting with High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound Technology (HIFU)

High-intensity focused ultrasound technology, or HIFU, makes a non-invasive, non-surgical facelift possible! This new generation technology uses ultrasound to target the superficial and deeper layers of the skin as well as the facial musculature for exquisite lifting and firming that lasts.

By effectively treating multiple skin layers, as well as the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (facial musculature), a triple-layer lifting effect is achieved. This is the only non-invasive device on the market that allows the deepest penetration of energy, targeting depths of 1.5mm, 3mm and 4.5mm, for skin lifting and tightening. This collagen remodelling treatment reverses the ageing process by replenishing collagen stores, plumping the skin from within and breaking up stubborn fat cells. HIFU not only lifts the face, but comes with the added benefits of wrinkle reduction and skin tone improvement.

THE BENEFITS

  • Lifts cheeks, eyebrow, eyelids and jawline
  • Tighten sagging skin
  •  Smoothens fine lines and wrinkles
  •  Replenishes collagen

YOUR HIFU FACELIFT TREATMENT QUESTIONS ANSWERED

1. HOW DOES HIFU FACIAL TREATMENT WORK?

HIFU technology delivers ultrasound energy waves which penetrate deep into the skin, targeting 3 layers below the surface of the skin:

    1. Epidermis 1.5mm
Results: smoothen wrinkles and contour skin
    2. Dermis 3.0mm
Results:  boost collagen, improve skin texture and minimise skin imperfections
    3. Facial Muscles (known as the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) 4.5mm that are normally worked on by cosmetic surgery
Results: lifts skin and create a V-shape effect

The ultrasound energy causes the tissue to heat up rapidly (above 60~C) . The skin’s response to this energy is to stimulate the growth of fresh, new collagen and elastin.

The increase in collagen results in tighter, firmer, smoother skin with less wrinkles. Since the high-frequency ultrasound beams are focused on a specific tissue site below the skin’s surface, there is no damage to the upper layers of the skin and adjacent tissue.

2. AM I RIGHT FOR THIS TREATMENT?

This treatment is recommended for both women and men aged 30+.

The treatment should not be carried out if you have:

  • open facial wounds or lesions,
  • metal stents/implants in the face or neck  (dental implants are ok, but we may ask our clients to place gauze over teeth and gums to reduce sensitivity during treatment),
  • implantable electrical devices, permanent dermal implants, anti-thrombosis therapy, an active systemic
  • skin disease which may hinder regeneration, or haemorrhagic disorders or dysfunctions,
  • if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

3. HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE THE RESULTS?

Some patients may see the initial effect instantly, but ultimately lifting and firming will take place over approximately 2-4 months, as the collagen is renewed and replaced with new, stronger collagen.

4. HOW MANY HIFU TREATMENT SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

As this varies from person to person, we can discuss with you how many treatments you may need at your consultation. Generally excellent results can be achieved after just one HIFU facial treatment. However, based on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to ultrasound energy and the clients collagen-building process, some clients benefit from additional treatments. The procedure is best suited for patients with mild-to-moderate skin laxity, and you may need to have the procedure repeated in one to two years as the natural aging process takes over. Future touch up treatments can help keep pace with the ageing process, which varies by each individual.

5. HOW LONG THE HIFU FACIAL TREATMENT TAKE?

The length of the treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A full face procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes, while an eye treatment on its own takes approximately 20-30 minutes.

6. IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME IN THE PROCESS?

Being a totally non-invasive and completely non-surgical procedure, HIFU doesn’t have any downtime. You can return to your normal activities after the treatment.

  •  You may see a slight redness or tingling for up to few hours or days following the treatment, but these are usually mild and do not last for too long.
  •  Avoid swimming for 48hrs, no strenuous exercise for 48 hrs. No saunas, steam rooms or sun beds for one week.

7. DOES HIFU FACIAL TREATMENT HURT?

Our HIFU (USCO) device offers faster shot speeds and shorter intervals between each shot, this means it’s very comfortable for the patient, in fact far more comfortable and less painful than many other HIFU treatments on the market. HIFU does not cause major discomfort, but you may feel some discomfort,  a brief warmth sensation. Some people describe it as feeling like tiny electric pulses, or a prickly sensation. It’s not pain free but it’s completely tolerable and it may feel different on different areas of your face or body.

8. CAN I HAVE HIFU IF I HAVE HAD BOTOX/B-TOXINS?

HIFU can be performed 2 weeks after Botox / B-Toxins (avoiding the HIFU treatment has not been proven to negatively affect the Botox, but it is wise to wait two weeks, for the Botox to have full effect before having the HIFU so that if there is a question about the aesthetic outcome of the Botox, you won’t think it’s the HIFU.

Botox is also very safe to be administered right after the HIFU Treatment.

9. PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

One week before HIFU Facial treatment:

  • Avoid sun exposure and sunless tanning.
  • Sun burned or tanned skin will not be treated.
  • All skin irritants must be stopped (glycolic/ salicylic acids, benzoyl peroxide, retinol products such as Retin A, Tazorac, Triluma, Differin, and Vitamin C) on the area being treated

Advise staff when taking antibiotics. Certain antibiotics (Tetracycline, Doxycycline) can make a patient photosensitive, therefore, treatment may not be able to done until two weeks after completion of antibiotic.

10. POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

  • A non-exfoliant gentle cleaner and light moisturizer can be used the day of the treatment and apply SPF 30 or higher daily to maximize the your results and minimize irritation.
  • All skin irritants (glycolic/ salicylic acids, benzol peroxide, retinol products or vitamin C) can be resumed 3 days post treatments.
  • Waxing, tweezing and depilatory cream can be resumed 3 days post treatments
  • Botox, chemical peels and dermal fillers can be resumed 2 weeks after HIFU facial treatment
  • Avoid swimming for 48hrs, no strenuous exercise for 48 hrs.
